stReet cornErs: love. life.

Driving back home from an anticipated revelry, drowsy yet in high spirits. While the wheels were trying to send me home, a scene along the sidewalk kindled my senses. They were sweethearts who were in the same bar where I’ve enjoyed the night. Intimate enough to make me crave for a girlfriend. Red light, so I stopped and tried to divert myself from sleeping with David Cook’s “the time of my life”. Few lines then I barely hear the song. Voices from the sidewalk somehow break off its melody but still I just tried to sing with it.
The next thing I saw from the side mirror, the girl suddenly walked away as the guy tries to stop her. They stopped few steps from my car with their voices audible enough for my ears “wala na gali’y nabilin sa ako. Bisan gali pride para sa akong kaugalingon wala na tungod lang nimo. Grabe sad ka oi!” the boy said with a humble begging voice.
Tears were then trying to cascade from the girl’s seemingly in remorse eyes. Perhaps she felt what his boy’s trying to say. It was an empathy the boy was wishing her to have all the while when he is still persistent enough to save the relationship. But the boy left her behind and walked away. It was indeed a scene that inflicts “They whom you least expect to do you harm, merge to be the culprit of the ruin” Green light, I stepped on the accelerator and send my ass home. Then I slept!
Life needs proper perception. Just like driving, you should know when to stop and when to start running. Don’t leave yourself and always fasten the seat belt of the people you want to have a ride with as you pave the road of reality.
Always check your heart if it functions well as your brain just like checking the engines if it powers the car to run. View the side and rear mirrors for reflection on everything you do and say. Try to turn on the signal lights to light your way as you open your eyes to accept the real.
Above all, update the fuel level every day to remind us when to go to the gasoline station just like ringing a bell for us when to pray to Him for strength that keeps us from driving.
